Mastering implants in the most demanding zone
The anterior maxilla, often referred to as the “esthetic zone,” presents one of the greatest challenges in implant dentistry. This area demands not only precise surgical technique, but also advanced prosthetic planning and a deep understanding of soft tissue dynamics. Achieving both functional and esthetic success requires the clinician to master implant positioning, bone preservation or augmentation, and soft tissue management (Buser & Chen, 2009).
This presentation will explore key principles and clinical strategies essential for predictable outcomes in high-demand implant cases. Topics will include the importance of digital planning, immediate versus delayed placement protocols, provisionalization for tissue sculpting, and the role of biomaterials in optimizing hard and soft tissue integration.
Emphasis will also be placed on interdental papilla preservation and management of the peri-implant soft tissue, building upon foundational concepts introduced by Tarnow et al. (1992). Through the analysis of complex clinical cases, the speaker will share insights into decision-making processes, techniques for managing complications, and innovations that improve outcomes in the most esthetically sensitive regions.
By mastering implant procedures in the most demanding zones, clinicians can greatly enhance patient satisfaction and long-term treatment success.
