Structured CBCT analysis for functional dental diagnostics
The aim of this presentation is to introduce a systematic and reproducible CBCT/DVT evaluation protocol extending beyond conventional tooth-related diagnostics by including functionally and anatomically relevant adjacent structures. The standardized workflow includes assessment of the cervical spine, airway morphology, temporomandibular joints, laterality-related craniofacial patterns (ZyGoDi), dentoalveolar structures and craniofacial reference structures according to CranioPlan® concepts for individualized assessment of occlusal plane orientation. Structured analysis allows reliable identification of functional asymmetries, TMJ-related findings, airway-associated constrictions and clinically relevant additional findings. Systematic evaluation of lateral craniofacial structures may provide indications of dominant chewing patterns and asymmetric functional loading. A standardized CBCT/DVT evaluation protocol may improve diagnostic reliability, interdisciplinary communication and function-oriented treatment planning in orthodontic, orthognathic and prosthetic rehabilitation cases.
