Use of autogenous resin bonded bridge for the immediate replacement of teeth
The immediate replacement of teeth that are of hopeless prognosis can pose several issues to clinicians. For most clinicians, the options will include the provision of an immediate removable prosthesis, requiring several clinical and lab stages.
Alternatively, options may include the provision of an immediate loading implant. Many patients will be unwilling to accept a removable option, whereas others may not be suitable for the provision of an immediately loaded implant. Fixed options could include the provision of an indirect fixed prosthesis, such as a traditional bridge or resin-bonded bridge. These carry with them expensive lab stages.
An autogenous resin-bonded bridge uses the patient’s own natural tooth to restore the edentulous space. These provide a cost-effective and aesthetic solution to the replacement of teeth, which can be used to provide teeth with reduced clinical time and with limited laboratory steps.
Here, we will present a variety of cases of autogenous resin-bonded bridges, highlighting the indications for their use, the clinical stages required for their provision. We will highlight common issues with autogenous resin-bonded bridges and how to avoid them.
