A Fellow and Master of ICOI (USA), Diplomate of GCOI (Italy), and Member of RCSI (Ireland), he specializes in implant prosthetics, esthetic rehabilitation, and occlusion. Trained in EXOCAD and EXOPLAN, he leads a fully digital in-house dental lab for precision-driven care. Implant prosthesis design and its impact on peri-implant tissue health
In modern implant dentistry, long-term success extends beyond osseointegration to include the stability of peri-implant soft tissues—particularly the supracrestal tissue complex (STC). This biologically sensitive zone plays a critical role in maintaining the mucosal seal, preventing inflammation, and supporting esthetic outcomes.
This evidence-based presentation explores how prosthesis design influences peri-implant tissue health. Key design elements such as emergence profile, abutment height, connection type, and material selection directly affect the biological behavior of the STC. Improper design choices may disrupt the soft tissue seal, leading to mucositis, bone loss, or compromised esthetics.
Using clinical cases and current literature, the session will highlight prosthetic strategies that support soft tissue preservation, hygiene access, and long-term implant success.
